Octumom Nadya Suleman Continues to Set New Standard for Comedy as Publicist Quits

So when it comes to celebrity papparazi trash news, there’s a bit of a continuum. At one end, you’ve got thoughtful, sometimes even introspective and enlightening interviews a la People Magazine, and at the other end lies the ‘we have no shame, I can’t believe we’re attaching our names to this’ world occupied by the like of TMZ, Perez Hilton and others.

But every now and then an everyday non-celebrity pops up with a truth-is-stranger-than-fiction story that pushes the continuum to all new lows.  It’s called ‘freak show’ territory, and Octomom Nadya Suleman is the new Mayor.

A string of bad decisions has plunged this woman into some kind of a manic state so ridiculous that we don’t have any funny references  for comparison here. This woman is setting a new standard of ridiculousness for others to live up to. This post isn’t about jokes or making fun of this woman – if anything, there’s probably some serious mental health issues going on that should be addressed with a little bit of compassion – this post announces the dawn of a new era.

In the 1990s, OJ, Bill Clinton, and the stained dress provided some of the high watermarks for satirists to continue to refer back to years and decades into the future. I mean, a dress stained with the ejaculate of the most powerful man in the world? Fucking comic gold – “World’s most powerful man overpowered by own load” – it’s like some kind of hilarious low-brow Shakespearean graphic novel stuff. See, even now we’re still trying to work it in to everything.

For an ordinary woman to have such stupendously bad judgment to rise to these lauded ranks of mockability without having the significant headstart of already being a celebrity in the public eye is nothing short of phenomenal.

For now, that’s all we have to say. No jokes, no snide comments about anybody’s uterus. There’ll be plenty of time for that in the future. Nadya Suleman, welcome to history.  The vid up top is just a little taste of how we’ll remember you.
