Breaking News: General Motors (GM) & Chrysler – The Next Yugo and Edsel?

From Current

-Current

Wow – surprising news on a Sunday night that we didn’t have to hear from the mouth of a crusty old 60 Minutes anchor.

Obie One has apparently decided that GM and Chrysler’s plans for ‘viability’ – the equivalent of a doctor’s note that the car companies had to turn in in order to get another round of bailout loans – aren’t, well… viable.

Apparently GM’s plans to saw their remaining inventory of Hummers in half and market them as “open-air crossovers” didn’t pass muster, and the President has no problem handing Chrysler over to the Italians. (Fiat has been working on a deal to acquire the company – much to the surprise of those of us who thought Fiat had died years before Lee Iacoca)

The government will help pay GM’s bills for at least the next sixty days, so long as CEO Rick Wagoner and some board members show themselves the door.

Wagoner has already agreed and is off having a catered barbecue somewhere in the Bahamas with Jake DeSantis and some other pricks from AIG.

So good luck, Detroit. We know you’ve felt like all the rest of us gave up on you long ago. Guess it’s time we made it official.
