Dave Chapelle is something like the  new Andy Kaufman for the 21st century, but with less coordination. He’s kind of like the stoner’s Andy Kaufman I guess.  Word spread through Twitter and text messages yesterday that the constantly-in-crisis-but-still-cool comic would do a free, impromptu show in Portland’s Pioneer Square at midnight.  One problem: the city turns off power in the park that’s meant for the sound system at midnight.

So with only a tiny amplifier, only a few of the thousands of people that packed the park until 2 AM actually heard any comedy, but Chapelle did remark at how wonderful it made him feel that such a huge group of people could be so patient without getting angry or anyone getting hurt. Is this dude fucking stoned, or what?
